In the fall of 2000, God began to plant in the hearts of Dave and Heather Steinbeck, His calling and vision to reach people with the life-transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ. This calling was not to "go", but to "stay" in their own hometown of Eureka and plant a new church that would impact the communities and the world around it. At the time, Dave and Heather were regularly involved in ministry at New Life Christian Church in Morton. As they began sharing with the leadership of New Life about their hearts and the vision God had given them for this new church, New Life adopted them as their 'daughter' church and began assisting them in the planting of this new church.
In the spring and summer of 2001, three other families joined Dave and Heather. Together they began meeting as a small group to pray and dream about what God's heart was for this new church. In the fall of 2002, God began gathering more people from New Life and the Eureka area, who wanted to follow after the vision that God had given to Crosspoint. At the same time, God was calling Jeff and Angie Hegstrom to leave their ministry at New Life and join Crosspoint to serve as its first pastor.
